In the latest (2/10) Car and Driver "Lightning Lap" at VIR, the run-of-the-mill Corvette with the Gran Sport pkg (replaced Z51 pkg) ran 2:58.8 versus the 911 Carrera S at 3:05.8, and the ZR1 turned 2:51.8 so, yes, the ZR1 handed the "regular" carrera 911 its azz, but so did the cheap Vette.
