I was 19 when I bought my first 911. Was supposed to by a 914 but when the 67 Soft Window Targa came up for sale for the same money I couldn't resist. Although I was aware of the pitfalls of an early 911, new exactly what to look for, and most of the danger signs were there. I was smitten and I bought that beeatch anyway!!
I enjoyed it.. rusty front pan, rockers, and heat exchangers for a full month, came to my senses and traded it to a used car dealer (because it was rare) for a schweet 65 E-Type coupe! I sold the E-Type three years later and made enough to pay for a year of college and purchase a 70 911T w/S trim!
Ummm, that was roughly 40 air cooled Porsches ago! (2-914, 3-356, flat-6 for the rest)
