Got some saddle time today. I rode my 98 SS and the 748 back to back.
A bit suprised by the power delivery. On paper the 748 is making 20+ HP more than my SS, but it really shows you how HP does not tell you the whole story. The 900cc 2v delivers more grunt in the low end, so puttering around town, it actually feels stronger.....to a point. As the revs come up, the 900 starts to get out of breath, and the 748 starts to sing.
The SS is no slouch in the handling department, but the 748 feels much tighter. Way, way more flickable. The suspension is planted, and inspires confidence. No nervous quirks.
Seating position....LOL. Lets just say I won't be touring on it much.
