Thank you all.
Skyler and (Joey) were really my ex-wife's birds. Skyler came home a few months after her previous bird died. I told her that we won't be clipping his wings and he will be allowed to fly in the house. About 6-9 months later, we were picking Skyler up from boarding at the pet store where we bought him and another English jumped near Skyler as we were passing by the cage. We let them chat for a few and then bought him.
Up until Joey came back with us, Skyler was more friendly with me, but interacted with my ex-wife as well. After Joey, they could really care less about socializing with us and Skyler stopped talking. He was mimicking a few words before. Skyler taught Joey how to fly and would not fly (not much) himself, while Joey's clipped wing feathers were growing in. Both became excellent indoor fliers, although we had a few mishaps. I kept the birds after my wife left. She moved into a smaller place. As frustrating as they could be, they kept me happy through hard times during my divorce and after. Joey passed a few months after another relationship tanked and Skyler and I really bonded. Skyler learned some new words... "Happy birdie", "Really?" and "What are you doing?" Skyler could be a pain in the rear and there were times that I wanted to strangle him, but he was my best buddy and I am going to miss him a lot.
A couple of crappy iPhone pix and one of the both of us. i have others, but I can't find them at the moment...
