It turns out that he's considered one of the most important sculptors of his era - learning what I learned about what his work is about literally opened my eyes to see what had escaped me before.

L O L You shouldn't have stopped after you got the MFA... I can't believe you had to get Serra to explain himself before your eyes were opened enough that you could appreciate his brilliance... you should have stuck with it until you got the PhD.
