A little back story on my previous post and why three birds. I think I may have mentioned it already... Oh well..

My ex-wife had a parakeet before we moved in together. I believe it was a few months later that he died. She had wanted to bury him at her parents house, but could never get herself to do it. So Elliot remained in the freezer. When she moved out, she never took Elliot, even though she had meant to.... Due to a long divorce, I kept hoping that she would collect him. I know how much Elliot meant to her, so I could not get myself to just throw him in the trash. He didn't take up much space and was wrapped up and out of site, so I decided to bury him at my parents house, but for some reason, he remained.

I mentioned Joey, he was purchased after Skyler but died 2.5 years ago. About a month before he died, I had read on the Internet, that the English parakeets life span was about 6-8 years. I was shocked. I guess I was used to the fact that my parakeet growing up at my parents lived to 15+ years. I assumed that this was normal and that possible the English would live a few years less. Anyway, when Joey died, I had imagined that Skyler would pass soon after and I would bury them together. Heck, I had already kept one bird in the freezer.... He didn't and since they were such best buddies, I wanted to bury them together.

So today, almost a week to the hour that Skyler died, I buried all three together.

It was a bit of a pisser to have the grave almost done and hit a pipe and to find out it still was functioning.

I feel a bit of weight lifted off of me and I have slowly been able to laugh again, but Skyler is going to be a tough one to get over. I am sad that we only really had a couple of close years together and only became even closer in these last few months.

Thanks for letting me ramble.
