Do they have any sort of gas fill valve? Either a schrader, or an obvious cap or screw or other port, typically on the top? I'd like to see close pix of that area, as we as the bottom of the body. If there is a valve, and the lower body is not crimped or welded, then that combination makes them nice, as the valving can be readily tweaked, or, if that's not needed, the oil freshened. That would be a plus, and long-term, outweigh the Showa's other advantages.
Btw and fwiw, my S is older than that ( by >400 bikes, which is a lot -- ending in 50053)
It would appear a few WPs got in the mix, but it is not a matter of simple chronology)
