I'm surprised to see so many recommending an extended warranty. Usually it's the opposite. $2,900 is pretty strong, but probably worthwhile with what's at stake.
Suggestion- hold off just a bit. Be specific about the coverage, deductible, and year of your car. I'll check with a friend at a Volvo dealer. Maybe he can sell you one or suggest a better way to get it. I know sometimes manufacturers themselves solicit an extended warranty purchase to the retail buyer after the sale/before the factory warranty expires.
