I think there were a few years that Mercedes were crap. There were tons of recalls and tons of lemon returns. 2003 was one of those years; explains why 50K cars sell for 13K.
Also Mercedes even anounced that they had reduced the amount they spent in parts versus labor, and were going to change that moving forward. In other words, for the same money, we will start putting better parts into the car (as we had before)..

Really dig the current S550 and hope to get one in the next 3-4 years..
