I have a scissor lift too. I love it.

That said, one drawback is that it, along with the required ramps on either side, really takes up space when you're NOT using it. The ultimate deal would be to recess it the floor like in Thom's garage as posted above. That way, you don't need ramps on either side to raise up the car enough to drive over it, and best of all - it disappears when you're not using it.
