I've got an 09 Audi A4 and a 996 (gasp!) I can tell you that I wouldn't even think of driving the 911 for a commuter car. Too much traffic and more of a chance that I'd get a ticket. I really like the A4 you might want to take a look at those too.
But just don't sell the 911 right now. The market is down, and the only people that are buying are ones that are looking for an awesome deal. If you can do what ever it takes to not sell a car in this market.
