Just an update.
I went a little crazy and ended up pulling the jugs off the case to replace the pushrod seals. Now, I'm bead blasting the heads and spec'ing the valve guides and bores to make sure they're still in spec.
Everything looks good, so far.
The big hold up right now is the weather. It's too cold to paint and I can't start putting stuff back together until it warms up enough to get outside and media blast the frame.
I've been keeping myself occupied in the mean time by polishing all the aluminum bits I can get my hands on.
Also, I thought I'd share some photos of my dad on the bike when it was brand new.
These photos were taken when my parents were stationed in Germany from '72- '74.
