This is my new Star PD in .45ACP that was purchased new in .78 by my father and never fired until last Saturday. I greased it up pretty well before firing it for the 1st time and it was nice to shoot! I used 230gr FMJ, then switched to some 185gr FMJ that I handloaded using a very light powder charge and the gun functioned perfectly. The recoil is manageable (my wife even fired it) and it's accurate. I've heard reports of hammer bite, cracked slides and failed recoil buffers, so I'll be careful with it and enjoy range time shooting it and my S&W Model 645.
