When i carried a .45 i was very partial to 165gr Cor Bon +P at about 1250fps for CCW (570fpe).
Very powerful round with the absolute flattest trajectory possible in .45acp.

The Remington 185gr +P is the best CCW round for a stock 1911 type pistol. It is specifically designed to mimic the feeding profile of ball ammo, yet still achieves nearly 600fpe of energy in a stock 5" length Government model barrel.
+P is definitely the way to go in .45ACP IMO, as some of it is nearly 2x as powerful as the classical GI .45 load of 230gr FMJ at 830fps (approx 370fpe).
