On the way up to Copper Harbor last year we stopped at the Laurium Manor in Calumet(built by old copper mining money). Beautiful old victorian B&B maintained and restored by a young couple. The garage has a spin platter for the carriage.
The drive around the tip during the fall is not to be missed. I think it was on Road and Tracks top ten. Trees exploding in color, twisty perfectly paved roads without traffic, some of the best german(or resteraunt) food I've ever eaten, wildberry jams picked fresh by monks, etc...
