They are pretty common on the bass boats (including mine) around here. Keep in mind they put some added stress on your transom, so make sure your transom isn't rotted or has stress cracks in it. They are easy to install and remove (less than 10 minutes), and fairly cheap, so buy one and try it out. You can also improve your hole shot by using a different prop, but of course that is much more expensive and you trade off top end speed.
