Once those endorphines and all that adrenaline gets flowing, some people (and animals) will only stop if you destroy the CNS, they bleed to the point of unconsciousness, or if they actually mentally quit.

I personally think the #1 key factor of "stopping power" is actually not related to the bullet or caliber used, but rather is directly related to the shot person or critters will to fight on.

If animals are tougher, this is why...because they are not mentally programmed that when shot they should fall down. A lot of experts think that the main reason people fall down when shot is simply because it's a taught/learned behavior from watching so many action movies.
