Engine Drop Question

I am preparing for my first engine drop. Wayne's book indicates that I have to disconnect the "hard oil line." I assume that this is the hose that passes under the engine and connects to the left side of the block. Do I have to remove it entirely of just disconnect it from its attachment at the oil filter manifold under the right fender? I really don't want to take off the heat exchangers to get to it unless I have to. But that hose is really expensive. (For some reason, I can't download an image of it right now.)
