Quite a lecture
No I don't know when the belts were last changed - shame on me. I bought a blind 944. I'm not complaining about the repairs since I was planning on them in the next year anyway.
What I'm saying, if you were an engineer, would you be proud of a design that caused major damage based on a "sometime between 30 and 60K miles a belt is going to break and when it does your engine is toast - oh by the way, it could happen at 15, 10 or 25K or never"?
I really love driving my car - but it's certainly scary reading about all the expensive things that can go wrong - but- the looks and comments I get and the sheer joy in the handling make it all worth while. What I don't like is that my car can be totaled with no fault of mine - just because a belt decided to fail. And lets not talk about the various bolts held in place with plastic that invariabily fail to hold their grip.
I'm a total 944 fan but...
