"Starbucks has made a choice to allow people to protect themselves if they feel it necessary," Peter said.

Starbucks' executives issued a statement earlier this week, saying, "We comply with local laws and statutes in all the communities we serve. In this case, 43 of the 50 U.S. states have open carry laws."

"If these protesters were to take 10 minutes and do some research they would see [the decision] isn't going to pose a threat to them or the general public," said one woman.

It is up to the company whether or not they will allow guns in stores. California Pizza Kitchen, for example, does not allow guns in their stores. Protesters say they hope Starbucks will change direction and ban guns just like they banned smoking.

So... if Starbucks caved to the whiners. how would they enforce the ban? Baristas with Berettas?
