Don't know about your experience, but on mine you press a button and turn the sleeve. Not the least bit awkward. Also my wheel feels as tight as my bolt on wheel!
The most important thing for me is the fact that it's THIN, and will work for many applications where some of those big 2-3" monsters won't!
