In Formula One, the 107% rule was a Sporting Regulation that affected qualifying sessions from the beginning of the 1996 season until the end of the 2002 season.
It stipulated that a driver who did not lap within 107% of the pole position time during the hour-long session the day before the race would not be eligible to compete in the race, subject to the discretion of the stewards.
