Price. I priced purpose-built 911 mufflers and I died a little inside. This FM cost me 95.95 shipped to my door.
Weight. The Flowmaster weighs about 12lbs. I've read the stock muffler on my car weighs every bit of 30lbs. Don't know what the Big-Boy replacements weigh (M+K, Dansk, etc.) but I don't know how they could be less than 12lbs.
Sound. I like the Flowmaster sound, albeit I've really only properly heard them on water-cooled American V8's, I would hope the FM imparts at least some of that sound on my air-cooled flat 6. Some people hate the FM sound. I understand that. And some people say it's too loud inside the car. Frankly, at 70mph the wind noise inside my car is so loud I'd welcome any other sound that can make it in.
Well, my search for a shop continues tomorrow. I'll post my progress, successful or otherwise! And thanks for all the pics and advice. This place is amazing.
