Obviously you haven't had the same experience. But I'd suggest giving them a try.

I have a good feeling about these guys. Sometimes you have to get past a first experience, and or clen up your end of the exchange. I know guys who are 50 times the mechanic that I am, and they don't always have time to listen to me tell them what they already forgot and moved on from.
As for the muffler, keep taking it to shops until you find a guy who can do it. With the right guy, you will be out in less than an hour.
