Excellent idea and post. I've been a lurker for years, but this thread is prompting me to come out of lurker mode as it's exactly the idea I have and would like to carry out on a 944, if and when I get one. I try and look at what other 'real' Club Sport packages were. They were all production based vehicles with stuff left out and only very minor additions or tuning parts.

My thoughts would be using a N/A 944

Suspension and Brakes
M030 or Spec 944 type suspension lowered and corner weighted
Stiffer suspension bushings
Stock brakes with good pads and SS lines. Spec 944 cars survive with stock brakes and this car should be a bit lighter than stock.

Body
Remove sound deadening but possibly replace with some lighter material
Remove AC
Ideal would be a sunroof free car, but in reality a lightweight Carbon fiber or fiberglass panel, still removable (it's a street car) A sun roof also helps with the lack of AC!
Rear seat delete
Lightweight and or sport seats
Rear roll bar
Manual windows
Possibly simplified door trim
Keep carpet and rest of interior
Possible light weight hood and fenders
Possible fixed lights

Drivetrain
Relatively stock engine but balanced and blueprinted, possible mild lightening (knife edge crank or alloy flywheel) and mild cam
Possibly a larger throttle body
Header
Re/flash or chip
Short shift
LSD

My thought is a Club Sport should still be a usable street car, but still a street car. Not a completely bare bones stripped out caged car with a license plate. To a certain extent thing a Spec 944 car with full interior and just a rear cage. I imagine this could be an excellent road car come weekend autocrosser and track day toy.
