why we cant have more of them is beyond me. swartzkopf was the last general that had drive and "guts" like patton.
The big problem these days is that you can't get promoted high enough without essentially being a politician. I admire Patreaus - he seems like a tough, highly intelligent general, but he is, at base, a politician.
