Alright after getting rejected 2 more times yesterday, I came home and decided to mock the muffler up myself. One shop did tell me if I mocked it up myself I could then bring the car in and they would weld it all up for me for $50. This is the closest I've gotten to a, "Yes, we can do it."
So here is what I've done.
I used metal hanging straps and the stock muffler hanger. I'd like some sort of rubber or silicone material sandwiched between the muffler and engine to stop vibration transfer, but don't know if something like that (that can stand the heat) exists. Anyone know of anything? Don't mind the shoddy looking work, I simply want to see if this position would work. It's angled a lot more than I've seen others do it, but it seems to fit very well like this. Looking at the pictures, can anyone tell me if I am overlooking potential problems installing the muffler in this position? I have the inlet on the bottom but it could just as easily be at the top, so that could be changed accordingly if need be. I am also capping off the 2nd outlet completely, as per all the advice I've read here. So, would this work?
