Where the Pennsylvania long rifle really made it's name- literally- was at the Battle of New Orleans, in the war of 1812, when a regiment of Kentucky Vols decimated en entire British army with accurate, concentrated, long range fire from their Pennsylvania long rifles.
And so the "Kentucky Long Rifle" was born.
During the revolutionary war, King George called the PLR, "The terrible gun of the rebels."
