At this point, however, I feel I need to be balanced in my feedback and share.

When the unit works, it works very well, and I really enjoy being able to take advantage of the unit. Combined with an AFR meter I was able to tune a nice fuel curve for my 930.

However, the first unit short circuited because two sided tape was used inside the black box to secure the IC board to the base plate. Once warm, the adhesive released and the IC board shorted out. That unit was replaced.

The second unit worked until I tried to apply a firmware upgrade recommended by the vendor. The upgrade generated a "64 bit array" error as the upload was in process, freezing the upgrade and stalling the car. Vendor claimed likely firmware corruption which could occur on last generation units (not current generation).

I was told to return this unit for repair or upgrade. I offered to send money to hlep with an upgrade but was told not necessary.

That was last July 7th - yes July 7, 2009.

I am still without a repaired or replacement unit.

I get little communication, and when I do it is of the nature of "your unit is one of the next six", or "your unit is being machined", or "it should ship next week". this is now going on 9 months.

Last week, I sent two very cordial notes (all have been, and I am truly supportive of these guys and wish them success), and I have received zero feedback.

I thought I should share this with the forum, so this info can be balanced with the rest of the feedback, which is that this unit is easy to install, works very well, and does improve the 930 air/fuel management. I really like the concept and the product when it is working. I am however, disappointed that I have paid for a unit and have no unit after a 9 month wait for repair or upgrade.

I'll let you know when a repaired or replacement unit shows up.
I posted this elsewhere in the forum but though I should post it here because it's relevant.

I had a UTCIS-PT in my car. I sent it to unwired tools to be upgraded to the new unit and because it had broken (would set the control pressure to 1.5 bar no matter what). On 2/19 they told me the unit had arrived the day before. They told me it would ship back to me 2/22. On 3/6 I e-mailed them to see if it had shipped. On 3/8 I got a response from Steve that he would look into it and get back to me later that day. I have e-mailed them twice since then (3/11 and 3/15). No response. I left a voicemail 2 days ago, still no response. My car cannot run without this, so basically I'm screwed.

Is there anybody else making something with the same functionality as the UTCIS-PT (can't be Porsche specific as my car is a modified Mercedes).
