I am not sure if he will do it with the MAF Motronics but with the AFM Motronics (to 94) Protomotove can convert it to MAP so it will work with ITB's. Something like $2500 on the Motronics to get you started but you will need to dial in the final tune. Still not for the faint at heart.
A new stand alone high end EFI and the help of a good tuner to set it up as noted is a better idea.
I would just put a good exhaust and chip on what you have like Steve said.
