So just today, on my morning commute into Boulder, I see a very red, very low and very wide 997 Turbo heading towards me. I give a flash and a wave (just lifted my fingers from the wheel) and early 30 something shaved head w/expensive shades doesn't even acknowledge my presence....ugh....dork. I mean, I supposed that my car doesn't cost as much as a new set of his wheels/tires, but I HAVE TO double de-clutch heal-toe shift to go from 4th to second while on the brakes, and can't rely on ABS PSSB or any other acronym to save my ass when I'm working behind the wheel.
It's all about heritage and respect for the breed...my car goes fast because it was designed for a driver. One who has to think, plan and work his skills. His car goes fast because he spent a ton of cash and presses the buttons.
It's the ones who do acknowledge me and wave, smile or flash that I'd like to have a beer with and talk about cars. The others...well, they "bought in" and just don't get it. RUSH got it right...the smell of well weathered oil, hot metal and oil..shifting and drifting, the blur of the landscape, every nerve aware!
Cheers mates...keep on waving and flashin
