Unless you are a contractor and gonna use it everyday, you don't need Milwaukee or DeWalt.
Ryobi is a very good brand for around the house/garage. DEFINATELY get the Lithium Ion series in whatever you get.
I bought the Ryobi Lith ion Combo kit with Drill, Recip saw, shop light and 7" circular saw with batteries and charger.
Home Depot offers a Extended Protection Plan and if any of the tools die, they replace it.
