There must have been some phenomenal detective work that went on for that one. Breast implants don't have serial numbers on them. They have lot numbers stamped on them along with the manufacturer's name. There are really only two main manufacturers here in the U.S. So even with the old ex-plants, all I'd have to go on (because all the identity info from the patient's chart would be bogus, right?) are lot numbers. Then I'd have to contact the manufacturer to find out where each implant from that lot went. Then I'd have to contact all the doctors who put them in and get a list of patients they went into. Then I'd have to cull through that list to find the possible perpetrator. And then maybe I could figure out who the mystery woman is.
