They make one for skateboarding with a felt-like bottom, might be a knock-off brand though.
If you decide to upgrade to a leather Converse they now make a
"slim" model. I did not notice this before on the website and might have purchased it instead. I would think it would make for better pedal feel and not be so clunky two of my pet peeves with the classic Chuck.
The thick sole and lack of a round heel makes Converse a less than perfect driving shoe. However they run wide, and fit my wide feet pretty good.
Tabs, of course they double as walking shoes, unlike the fancy narrow driving shoes which do not fit me properly.
