Well stupid as my comment may sound, if you're sure they won't sue, why not find a way to keep a good chunk of it? Just enough to justify your conscience and just enough to not get sued. Refund half? What is your time worth in farting around with repairs? Part of it goes with the territory obviously but I might find a way to articulate X, Y, & Z issues, make them defensable and keep half ($700).
I dunno...? Just a thought. Seems to me like letting them off the hook at $200 might be a bit light.
