As I understand it, the insurance company pays, then may or may not go after them to be reimbursed. I am a bit miffed that one of their employees either stole the car, or handed the keys to someone who stole the car and nobody goes to jail. If the car were found a month later intact without damage or theft, no apparent repurcussions. Not enough revenue in chasing car thieves for the gendarmes I suppose.
