Long Time Age
Darisc,
My family had one about 25 years ago - so I can't speak to any particular current brand or make - but I can attest to the fact that they do help decompress/stretch your back and spine.
My uncle gave it to us. He was a sport medic for the Olympic committee and got into selling a bunch of wierd stuff he saw there. At the time, before "TVmercials" they didn't move, so he gave one to us. It was pretty heavy duty, the type that you sit upright on, lock your feet in, lean back and balance, raise your arms over your head to go upside down. It was adjustable for individual height and was good to ~ 250 lbs.
I would come home from crunching up my back at football and hang and twist for about a half hour - it was great; saved me trips to the chiropractor.
My back gets jammed up every now and then - wishing I still had one. I have no doubt they could help a lot of people with back alignment problems.
