Good info so far...
as Leo suggests try and bend the bent tabs back maybe use a little super glue to hold down, be careful clamping anything to the board where the tabs are, it could be brittle. Also, make sure to clean the female plug.

Most likely the odo gear is bad/denigrated. This will cause no miles to accumulate on the counter and a non-functioning trip counter. The trip counter uses a solenoid when pushing the button to actuate the gear mechanism to reset, they go bad and/or the odo gear being bad will also not allow a reset. DO NOT push the reset while the car is moving this can break the odo gear.

You can get the gear for cheap $25. There is a write-up on the replacement procedure on the net that I used, just can't find it right now, not hard just careful details.

adding you can clean the plastic film me4tal strips with a white eraser, clean the copper strips w/ a red eraser.
