I've done dumber things
I partially removed the air deflector in order to get access to the power connections at the rear of the alternator as I recall.Incidently there was almost no play in the wireing harness connected to the rear of the alternator and running inward toward the battery.Once all(or so I thought) the nuts securing the power wires were removed I slid off all three individual power connections to the back of the alternator(red, blue and brown wires)and proceeded to pull out the alternator.Unknown to me at the time (due to poor light filtration)was that the bottom air deflector tab was still fixed into place, connected to the alternator and I pulled off-broke the connecting tab when i removed the alternator. If I had taken the time to carefully read my manual instructions instead of believing the force was with me I would have not created this headache for myself.I was an idiot and i payed the price, basically.

I have all the nuts and washers I need for the job.

Regards, Peter
