Then I had a look at the switches for the driver seat. I was trying to remove one of the panel screws and it popped out and fell into the parking brake hold. I was like . My magnet was too large to fit in there.

Then I started thinking about what else I could screw up today, but couldn't think of anything else I could mess with.

OMG, that's hilarious. I did the same thing. No worries, this is how it goes with a 30 year old car. Brittle plastic and fiesty springs and bearings make a eye poking mission out of it. You'll get it, just try and focus on one thing at a time.
