"there is no such thing as a trust worthy mechanic"
I've been out of that field a long time but can still remember can still the boss's comment that there's so much repair work the typical car needs that you don't need to do unnecessary stuff. Can remember lots of horror stories of some rip-off shops also. I can imagine the difficulty the average motorist has finding a mechanic they can trust.
