KFC's Double Down has two pieces of fried chicken bacon and cheese, but still has fewer calories than other fast food items

Whether you're a fan of fast food or not, you've probably heard of the heart-stopping Double Down chicken sandwich from KFC.
The fast food chain, best known for its fried chicken in a bucket, has come out with a sandwich comprised of two pieces of fried chicken in place of bread with bacon and cheese in the middle, handily served in a paper wrapper: This is the Double Down.
While the very sight of this new on-the-go food item might scream caloric devastation, is the actual number of calories really that might higher than other fast food items?
If you take a look at the nutrition facts for other fast food items, it turns out the the KFC Double Down falls right in the middle (if not on the lower-end) of recent fast-food product releases:
KFC's New Creations
Original Recipe Double Down:
540 calories, 32 g fat, 1,380 mg sodium
Grilled Double Down:
460 calories, 23 g fat, 1,430 mg sodium
McDonald's Angus Bacon and Cheese Burger:
790 calories, 39 g fat, 2,070 mg sodium
McSkillet Burrito with Sausage
610 calories, 36 g fat, 1390 mg sodium
Burger King's New Creations
In the battle of artery-clogging menu items, Burger King debuted the BK Quad Stacker in the fall of 2009. The burger comprises of four beef patties, eight half-pieces of bacon, and four slices of cheese. In addition to the high caloric and fat content, this burger also has 31 grams of sugar.
The Quad Stacker:
930 calories, 65 g fat, 1,740 mg sodium
So while the new Double Down from KFC does up the ante as far as fried fast food goes, it hardly breaks the standard for calorie-busting fast food options.
