sammy - that would depend on the particle size distribution of the ejecta, the ht. it rises to and the volume - maybe other things too
I dunno if those factors have been met - St. Helens had a very definite effect not just that year, but also the next year. Of course, the top 1,400 ft. of the mountain blew off in that one.
