There's a neat article in Panorama - title is something like "When Vic Elford gets MAD."
He mentions that in past times, if a car was in the lead entering the corner, that car had the corner, and the other car would back out and follow. Even if that lead was a mere inches. He says that doesn't happen nowadays. I guess you can't be a 'gentleman' and race anymore these days... He also points out that most crashes, even deliberate ones like the Kia driver, are just ruled "racing incidents" and no one gets penalized for blatant hits.
I only hope that this type of driving doesn't trickle down to the HPDE level...
