Aloha Chris. Lanai is a special place. Its been a bit over run in resent years with the development of the big resorts that have totally taken over the economy there. I havent spent much time there in a while, but it was normal for there to be an informal gathering at the harbor in the afternoons and into the evening for fishing, drinking beers, talking story, playing music, and general good times. you might swing by there with a few beers to share, see whats happening
Also there is a good hike to be done up behind Lanai city. the high ridge lined with tall Norfolk pines. offers great views of molokai, maui, and kahoolawi islands. You go up thru the golf course to access the ridge then walk towards the east. Ask there for details. There are deer on lanai, i once found a shed horn on the ridge. nice and cool there after a few days at the beach.
You might check if Sherie is still the harbor master . Her husbund Jeff may be able to put together a private charter for you. the waters around Lanai are some of the clearest and mellowest in hawaii.
We will be traveling at that time ourselves. so won't be here on kauai , should you come this way.
Hope this is some help, and you have a great time in the islands
Cheers Richard
