That was certainly true when they were new. Decades later, it's the rare watches that command the most money. Go price an early Milgauss. Heck, when I bought my Daytona in the early 80's, dealers couldn't give them away. Now, they are worth 10-20 times what they sold for new. Some of the quartz movement Rolexes are worth a pile.
