I agree, buy new and the servicing is not necessary.

Yeah, but there's no free lunch in life. My experience has been that independent service centers and local watchmakers do a lousy job of servicing a watch. Your experience may differ but mine's 100% bad when using anybody other than Rolex. It's worth it to me.



Having said that, I usually buy new watches. I only buy used when I am looking for a particular watch that is no longer available new. My experience has been that if you buy new, after around 10 years the watch will be worth more than the original purchase price, for a stainless steel sports model. Gold watches are a different story.
