"At that price I would want it to be able to make me time travel as well!".
He shook his head in disbelief and smiled to himself. I could tell he was amused at "my foolish endeavour".
A few nights later they were going out and I offered to let him wear the watch because they were going to a formal occasion.
He accepted with a shrug of the shoulders and put the watch on.
It fitted his wrist perfectly and I saw a smile beam across his face as he looked at it on his wrist.
Meanwhile they have returned to the US and just the other day I was chatting with my sister on Skype.
Roger came and sat next to her and I couldn't help but notice a shiny new watch on his wrist.
My sister told me he bought a brand new "Sub Mariner" shortly after returning the US.

For many years after I got my first GMT Master, everytime I saw my Father he asked to see it. Was not hard to see that he really wanted one but just would not spend the money on a watch like that. This was when you could get a nice one for under $1000.
I got a call 5-6 years later from the owner of the company he had worked for the last 30 years. He was about to retire and they wanted to buy him a diamond ring. I told them that like myself, he did not wear jewelery, but that he did really like my Rolex. Thought that they would buy him something like I had.
Got a call a month later and it was my Dad. He had just retired and they gave him his retirement gift. It was a 18k Rolex President with the bark band. Except for the version with diamonds on the dial, it was just about the top of the line. You could not get it off of his arm, he loved the watch.
Years later when he was in the hospital dying of cancer he took the watch off of his arm and gave it to me. The staff there had stolen his wedding ring and he did not want to lose this. I still have it and wear it from time to time but its still his and always will be.
