A lot of turbos can make 1 bar of boost before 3000 rpm on a 3.3 liter Porsche engine. Garrett GT35R can, GTK Turbonetics ball bearing can and it uses a little small orifice to oil the turbo.
I would like to see somebody be able to completely change the characteristics of their turbine by simply adjusting the vane-controller which takes less than a minute. Driving on the street? Set the power-band to hit full boost/torque @ 2400rpm. Going to the track for the weekend? Set the power-band higher for peak horsepower and torque to match the usable power range for that particular track. I would like to see a Garrett or Turbonetics with that kind of adjustability.

Our turbos are $2500 yes, but they do not require a wastegate. This comes back to efficiency, no exhaust energy is wasted. And in regards to drmatera's comment you can justify the cost of the turbo by considering the following: you do not need an external wastegate or the added weight and piping that comes with them. You do not need a turbo timer due to the self-contained lubrication and low friction bearing assembly, you;ll never have to worry about hot shut-downs again. If you're not running a turbo timer or don't let your turbo car idle before shutting it down after hard driving then you're simply shortening the life of that conventional turbo. This is not an issue with ours. And finally consider the comment above about on-the-fly adjustability.
