Good plan but 10.5 : 1 CR is too much for single plug; 9.8 :1 is about max.
Considering today's octane, I recommend you go with 9.5 : 1 JE pistons in your Mahle cylinders.
You just went through a bad experience and don't want detonation. 
You also may need another head for that cylinder?
